Here are four steps to success as stated by Jeffrey Keller.
A successful corporate executive in New York was interviewed and asked to identify his professional strengths. He came up with the following list, and I think we can all be more effective in our sales efforts if we apply them as well:
1. Be consistent: This includes not only consistency of the quality of our product or service, but also consistency of attitude (a positive one) and consistency of integrity and reliability.
2. Work at a very strong pace: Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher summed it up well when she said, “I do not know anyone who got to the top without hard work.” You’ll never get maximum results from minimal effort.
3. Focus on the long term: Those who succeed have a vision of where they’re going and have the patience, flexibility and persistence to stay the course.
4. Don’t let people get you down: No matter what you do, you’ll encounter criticism and disappointment during your career. Don’t let anyone discourage you or stop you from moving forward.

I thoroughly agree with the above, but I’d like to add one more suggestion – pace yourself.
Hard work is vital to success (though if you’re doing something you enjoy it shouldn’t feel like it)- but to keep your attitude positive and your energy levels high, you need sufficient rest and recreation, too.
Working yourself to exhaustion means you just get less and less done (believe me – I’ve done it way too often not to know that!), and if you let it go on too long it only leads to burn-out, stress and failure.
Scheduling some time for family, fitness, fun and getting all the sleep you need will help you keep your life in balance and make you vastly more productive and successful.
Some good tips but not so sure these guarantee success! Wish it was as easy as that
These steps are clear and concise. I believe hard work certainly plays a significant part in any success. I agree, having tremendous Focus and definite goals will also help facilitate progress. When someone channels a great deal of energy into a project their chances for success are really increased. Written goals help us focus are help place you back on track when moments or challenges cause the achiever to falter. Getting back on track quickly and effectively makes it easier to attain some success.
I would say good list but incomplete. What about being organized, decisive and the skill of critical analysis?
Ray, thanks for the input. It is your turn now. I am looking forward to your contribution to this list of undetermined length.
