Microsoft Word try’s to be the one stop solution for all your publishing needs. To that end, when working with websites, MS Word adds extra code to handle the page formatting. This extra code gets in the way of the search engine’s ability to read the text on your page. Here is a link to a page that gives you a great example of the extra code: Why no to use Word.
There is a special button on the second row of the tool bars that allows you to paste word docs, but it strips out all the formatting. Considering the volume of extra code, it is better to use Google Docs or Notepad to create your article and cut and paste from those applications.
